Cellulite is a common concern for many individuals, and is thought to affect as many as 80-90% of females. It is usually seen on the thighs, buttocks and hips, and can be psychologically distressing in more severe cases. It often presents as dimples and depressions, which give rise to an uneven and bumpy appearance on the skin. A number of factors are thought to cause this common condition, and in spite of popular belief, it is not usually linked to an individual’s weight. Males may be affected, although the prevalence is usually much lower due to a number of structural gender differences within the skin.
Alidya is the first injectable treatment and medical device, which is specifically indicated for the treatment of, and prevention of cellulite. This unique treatment is the result of the research of Prof. Pasquale Motolese who undertook extensive research to identify that the role of heavy metal ions is one of the causes of cellulite. These heavy metals are released as a consequence of the alteration of the microcirculation that occurs in cellulite, and are responsible among other factors, for increasing the damaging action of free radicals in the skin and subcutaneous tissue (fatty layer). Alidya includes in its’ formula agents which are capable of reducing the effects of these toxic elements and preventing further damage. It also includes anti-oxidants, and amino acids which are important ingredients to replenish the normal functioning of the skin, as well as improving the overall texture and smoothness of the skin. Alidya has more than 10 years of research and evidence to support its’ safe use in clinical practice.
Alidya also helps to improve lymphatic drainage, remove toxins, as well as smoothing and tightening the skin, with lasting results. The treatment is licensed to be used on a number of areas, which may include, the lower abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. For best results,
Alidya should be delivered over a course of treatments.
A detailed consultation and individualised assessment of the areas of concern is critically important to ensure that the appropriate number of treatments are considered to maximise best results, as well as exploring the recommended number of maintenance sessions, which are key to long term results. Alidya is designed to support a holistic lifestyle approach to reducing cellulite long-term, alongside regular exercise and a balanced diet.
This will be explained following a detailed assessment of the areas to be treated. This may approximately range from 2-7 sessions, as well as maintenance.
Mild discomfort is associated with the injectable nature of the treatment. The procedure is manageable and the areas treated are not typically associated with prolonged soreness beyond 24 hours. Bruising is not uncommon.
